Huh: apparently we've been filing our nails wrong all these years (and here's how to do it)
Filing nails: it doesn't seem like higher math. You might even do it without thinking about it. And yet we have been doing it wrong for years. We explain what the big pitfall is and how it should be done.

What can go wrong? Well apparently quite a lot.

Filing nails incorrectly
It does not seem like a big challenge, but apparently we file our nails wrong. Chances are you move your nail file back and forth and from left to right across your nail. Basically like a saw. Sounds efficient, but that could be exactly the reason why your nails split, crack and eventually break faster. With this motion, you go against the direction of the nail and thus damage your nails faster.

So how should it be done?
So to keep your nails as healthy as possible, it is important that you file your nails properly. You do this by filing in one direction. Start first on one side of your nail and then work down the middle to the other side. Another technique that also works well is to work from the sides to the middle. So in this case, you start on one side and file from left to right to the center. And then you start on the other side from right to left. Finally, you can also file your nails vertically. Here you work from top to bottom. This will also close your nails nicely.

Note: never file away too much of the sides of your nails, as this will increase the chances of your nails tearing.

Use the right nail file
In addition to proper filing technique, it is also important to use a good file to keep your nails healthy. The best choice is a glass nail file. A cardboard nail file can also be used, but a metal one is actually too hard on your nails. Again, this allows you to damage them faster, causing them to break. In addition, a coarse file causes hooks in your nails faster. Therefore, always choose a fine texture.
